Emotional Support Animal

ESA Evaluation and Letter

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Texas, Florida, Virginia and Louisiana, dedicated to providing emotional support animal evaluations. If you qualify, I am prepared to issue an ESA letter for your animal as well.

I frequently receive requests for these evaluations for housing purposes; however, please note that these letters can also be used for a variety of other situations, such as flying and accessing public places. Along with the evaluation, I will provide the ESA letter at NO CHARGE, as it is included in the evaluation process and will not incur a separate fee.

The process for obtaining an emotional support animal evaluation begins with a consultation. After this phone consult is completed, we will schedule the evaluation. During this time, I will get to know both the ESA and the owner. It is your responsibility to provide all requested documentation and be available for the entire evaluation, which typically lasts about an hour. Following the evaluation, I will assess the provided information to determine if an ESA accommodation is suitable. I will also gather collateral information to ensure the accuracy of the details provided. Once I have all necessary information, I will draft the ESA letter and send it to you via email and postal service, allowing you to share it with the relevant parties.

My approach to determining the appropriateness of an ESA for you includes a thorough evaluation, which entails answering a range of questions. You will complete an in-depth intake form that delves into your mental health challenges, how your animal assists in alleviating symptoms, and how this support enhances your daily functioning.

Additional questions will be posed to better understand your needs. If possible, I encourage you to share past mental health records to demonstrate any history of treatment. Should you lack previous treatment, follow-up meetings may be necessary the following week or as required, depending on your unique circumstances.

Please note that having a mental health condition does not automatically qualify someone for an ESA. To establish appropriateness, there must be a clear connection between:

- What your animal does for you (including companionship),

- How the animal helps reduce psychiatric symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety),

- How this reduction in symptoms enhances your ability to manage major life responsibilities.

This type of support is regarded as a disability accommodation.

Functional limitations may encompass challenges with:

- Concentration and memory

- Executive functioning and decision-making

- Sustaining energy throughout the day

- Communication and social interaction

- Multitasking and meeting deadlines

- Coping with schedule changes or interruptions

- Performance anxiety

- Learning and task management

My focus is specifically on how your emotional support animal supports your mental health. While animals can assist with physical conditions (e.g., diabetes, seizures), my assessments center on psychological issues such as anxiety and depression. Your animal should help mitigate the effects of any functional impairments resulting from mental health symptoms, which may involve specific tasks or general companionship.

Please note: I do not provide diagnosis, therapy, or treatment for specific mental health issues as part of this emotional support animal evaluation.

Step 1

Step 1

Use the button below to schedule an appointment for your emotional support animal evaluation. You will receive an automated response, and a consultation regarding your ESA letter and mental health support will be scheduled within the next 24 hours.

Step 2

Step 1

Step 1

Once the consultation is completed, you will be provided with an intake form to complete. Please fill out this form in its entirety and provide all requested documentation, as this is necessary for your emotional support animal evaluation. This form must be completed prior to the evaluation for your ESA letter. If it is not completed, I will have to reschedule the evaluation.

Please Note: I will only reschedule an evaluation once. If you have extenuating circumstances, we can discuss them, and an additional evaluation may be scheduled on a case-by-case basis to ensure you receive the mental health support you need.

Step 3

Step 3

Step 3

Once the emotional support animal evaluation is completed, I will review all the documents, complete collateral calls, and follow up on any missing information. After a decision is made regarding the ESA letter, you will be notified of this outcome. If there is something that can be corrected, I will request this information prior to making a decision. Should there be an issue that prevents a client from obtaining an emotional support animal, I will inform the client of the reasons and, if possible, provide resources for further mental health support.

Step 4

Step 3

Step 3

Once everything is approved and payment is made, I will provide the ESA letter via email and postal service. This ESA letter, which serves as vital mental health support, is issued following an emotional support animal evaluation.

I charge $150 for the entire process. The letter is valid for one year. Additionally, I am willing to complete any reasonable extra paperwork that may be requested from you.
